World of Warcraft Blamed for Porn's Decline

The porn industry, said to be recession proof and almost always on the cutting edge of technology, is now falling on hard times due to the emergence of its once greatest ally – the internet.

Believe it or not, online gaming such as World of Warcraft is named as one of the Daily Beast's top five reasons that porn-for-profit is dying. Industry insider Aiden points out that both porn and online gaming are both forms of entertainment that appeal to similar crowds.

"It is all entertainment that you are getting involved in the same way as porn is entertainment," said Aiden. "I won’t say everyone, but a lot of people in the industry play videogames. The games are competition for porn. Fans jerk off to porn and are done, but you can keep playing a game."

Aiden, who manages his wife Belladonna's website, is no stranger to spending time in the online gaming world. "Yeah, my wife and I occasionally argue about the amount of time I spend playing," he admits.

Industry legend Ron Jeremy expressed his dislike for the internet, saying in no uncertain terms, "I just hate the internet in general."

The reason for Jeremy's hate is because the internet is threatening an industry which he made over 2,000 movies for. "People can download stuff for free these days, so why the heck are they going to buy it? The only ones making money out of porn are the novelty companies," Jeremy said.

The quality - or lack of - is the main reason for porns decline these years. Earlier (before 2000) there was more enthusiasm and "chemistry" between performers, but nowadays the girls get spit on, strangled and the scenes recalls what violent rape most be like.
I really don't like the brutalism and depravity in porn and I know several with the same view. Late 80' to midst 90' was best..

I'm surprised they aren't blaming "sexting" for their decline. Not only is the porn free, it's being sent right to your phone!

People also go to school, which reduces their time spent watching porn. Perhaps we should all just quit school. And out jobs. And driving. And eating. And sleeping. Lots of people who watch porn do some or all of these things.

I think there is a decline in the porn industry due to the amount of debauchery in today's society. Sex is no longer taboo when dressing like whores is acceptable, and may even be considered too clothed.

Any time I need to masturbate I just go to free sites and I am quite content with the 2-25 minutes of fun I get out of the free stuff. Are there really people out there who pay for porn on the internet?

Honestly... WoW and MMOs and video games aren't killing porn. Free porn websites are killing porn. Who the heck BUYS porn? Honestly, I bet 80% or more of all pornos are on all the free sites. THAT is what is killing the porn industry.
