iPad Expected to Ship 26 Million Units This Quarter
Holiday sales to considerably contribute towards total shipments for Apple's tablet lineup.
An analyst with mergers and acquisitions consulting group Finvista Advisors believes Apple will ship a total of 26 million iPad units during this quarter.
Sameer Singh carried out his projections for Apple's tablet lineup based on historical cues. The second and fourth quarters have usually been the well-performing ones for the iPad, while the fourth quarter traditionally seems to be the strongest.
Due to the fact that Apple has typically unveiled each year's new iPad unit during the second quarter, it's not a surprise that consumers contribute to an increase in sales in the fourth quarter. This year's most recent quarter, however, saw Apple releasing both the iPad Mini and iPad 4.
Singh said his projection for total iPad shipments could have been 22.7 million had the iPad Mini not been released. Based on his data, the analyst believes shipments of the tablet to range between 24 and 26 million this quarter. The iPad Mini will be responsible for 6 million to 7 million of that figure, while all other models combined -- the original iPad 2, 3, and 4 -- will account for the remaining 18 million to 19 million.

There's always this kind of guy who bashes the bashers to make himself look good
to whom?
they only realize that apple is a pack of wolves when they've already been eaten alive, then its too late.
Tom's news praise Apple. The standard comments bash Apple. The equilibrium and balance of this site are kept this way
Considering they created the finger touch tablet space, they really convinced people by producing a product that millions upon millions of people wanted that had no demand at all before the iPad.
All the other major consumer / computer manufacturers around the world then copied the iPad's concept but threw a different OS (Android, Windows 8, etc).
So if Apple makes a finger touch tablet and companies like Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Asus, Acer, Lenovo all copy them into the market with a similar product, who are the "Sheeps" ?
mmmmm xcept they have not "created" this space you speak of. They merely took the mindless sheep that have been following them , and made them fall in love with a new vanity tool called iTouch .. something .. mostly themselves.
Oh, so they created a mindless product for them then? And then who are the mindless sheep buying the exact same thing but that are Android tablets? Obviously this mindless "product" crosses beyond Apple, just Apple was the first and everyone replicated their product just on a different OS.
they only realize that apple is a pack of wolves when they've already been eaten alive, then its too late.
Good god man, would you and every other "sheep" hater pls remove whatever is stuck up your a***** and lets get on with life. The android world now provides plenty of competition to Apple and lots of great new tech for us to choose from.
So get your posteriors out of your defensive positions and lets move on with discussion on great tech and implementations and what would make stuff even better. Make your choices and make your purchases of great new tech.
ENOUGH ALREADY!
Once again, they were not "the first" ....
l
Don't confuse first to market with a viable market space.
There were tonnes of tablets before, but they all failed and had no traction.
Apple with the iPad created a billion dollar viable finger touch tablet space that dozens have manufacturers have sense entered.
Right, because all those windows XP tablets that didn't sell, that made no positive operating income for Microsoft and no one really cared for REALLY paved the way for the iPad
Everyone with half an understanding of computers since the new millennium knows the tablet space was DEAD until the iPad came.
This is why you see every tom, dick and harry electronics and computer company trying to enter it after Apple's success.
Not saying there aren't other decent alternatives, just reality of product history and economics.
