Maxtor announced that it will equip its MaxLine III enterprise series as well as the DiamondMax 10 desktop harddrive family with a SATA II interface. The 7200 rpm harddrives will begin shipping this quarter and will be available with capacities up to 300 GByte, the company said.
Key benefit of the SATA II interface compared to the first generation SATA is twice the bandwidth, which increased from 1.5 to 3 Gbit per second.
