Corsair Clarifies Francisco Partners Deal: Not an Acquisition

Earlier, it appeared that Francisco Partners was having acquisition talks with Corsair, and that Francisco Partners would become the owner of the Corsair business. At the time that this came to light, though, it remained uncertain whether this was a full acquisition or whether it was just an investment. Corsair has now clarified the situation.

It appears that Corsair has no intention of selling the firm, but instead Francisco Partners is investing $75 million into Corsair. This makes Francisco Partners a shareholder in Corsair.

"The fact is that for companies like Corsair, the PC market is alive and well, since our focus is the gaming and enthusiast market, which is growing and shows no signs of stopping," said Corsair.

The reason for the cash investment, according to Corsair, is because it wants to focus on acquisitions of other companies for itself. Last year Corsair bought two companies, a Scottish company called Simple Audio and a German company called Raptor Gaming.

Corsair also indicated that there weren't going to be changes to the management team in the short term, and that there are no plans for any future changes either.
