'Tis the season of classic gaming reboots. In the past two years alone, PC classics have been making a return with a vengeance. Syndicate, Deus Ex, Thief, SimCity, Duke Nukem Forever, Rise of the Triad… the list goes on and on. Now, Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog, the Polish developer behind first-person shooter Hard Reset, have announced a Shadow Warrior reboot.
For those of you who aren't well-versed in old PC classics, Shadow Warrior was a 3D Realms game developed back in the '90s. As you can imagine, based off of 3D Realms's pedigree, the original Shadow Warrior was criticized for being racist for its portrayal of Asian culture. Though there's relatively little to go off of with the new reboot trailer, the game's aesthetic shows that Flying Wild Hog is going to try and steer clear of the stereotypes.
Lo Wang is making a return on PC sometime in Fall 2013 and later on next-gen consoles in 2014. You can catch a glimpse of the game in its trailer, below:
