Quanta Unveils Tegra 2 Tablet Prototype

While you might not immediately recognize the name Quanta, chances are you've seen or heard about some of their products before, including the rumored Apple tablet.

During CES 2010 today, Quanta was showing off a new prototype tablet with an Nvidia Tegra 2 chip under the hood. Take these numbers with a grain of salt, but Quanta claims the 1080p-capable tablet can pump out 10 hours of HD video on battery, or 140 hours of music if the display is off. Those are some amazing numbers, maybe too amazing.

From what we gathered, there is still a lot of work to be done; the chassis is very fragile, and the touchscreen needs a lot of work. However, with Tegra 2 now firmly positioned in the upcoming tablet wars, there should be some healthy competition between Intel, Apple and Nvidia.

ugh, what a fugly tablet ... kind of apple styled tho'.

Andy how is it people have completely forgotten already all the stories and articles when android launched, saying how google had specifically designed and intended android to be a multi-platform OS? Some of the ideas they were throwing around for it were way more wierd than tablets

    RooD / Dragon,

The comment was meant to be cynical.

Android will be a great multiplatform OS much like the 20,000 variants of Linux on the market.

I just found a beta of Andoid OS 0.3 I am going to try it out and see what all the fuss is about (I have an old laptop that amazingly the hardware is supported)

To me this is what Linux is best at right now. A set unit of hardware so that once the drivers are in place everything will just work right "out of the box"
