UK Galaxy S4 Users Getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
The Android 4.3 update is rolling out around the world.
Though Google just announced Android 4.4, also known as KitKat, many Android users are still waiting for the latest version of Jelly Bean to hit their device. Last month, Samsung started rolling out Android Jelly Bean 4.3 to Galaxy S4 users. Now, two weeks later, the rollout is arriving in the United Kingdom.
Pocket-Lint reports that UK handsets have started receiving the update, which brings with it support for Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch as well as a host of other features including Open GL 3.0, Samsung Knox, TRIM support, improved RAM management, a new keyboard, improved browsing and much more.
The Galaxy S4 was announced in March of this year at Mobile World Congress and shipped with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung's own TouchWiz layered on top of the Android install. Samsung plans to have all GS4 users updated to Android 4.3 by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Google has announced Android 4.4 KitKat and has said the Galaxy S4 will be getting that update in the near future. Speaking in a blog post published last Thursday, Google said the GS4, along with other devices, would be getting Android 4.4 in the coming weeks (though Google's release plans don't always reflect how quickly carriers and manufacturers can push the updates out to consumers' devices).

amk-aka-Phantom ... meanwhile, custom ROM users laugh at Samsung's slowpoke update process after running 4.3 for a couple of months.Reply -
jimmysmitty I'm not in the UK (Arizona, USA here) and I just got the update to 4.3 last night. I wasn't even expecting it.Reply -
jimmysmitty I think its being pushed since it looks to be the version that supports the Galaxy Watch. Not really a reason to get the Galaxy Watch if it wont work with your phone.Reply -
Cy-Kill Still waiting for Canada, although I think Samsung should've just skipped 4.3 and given us 4.4!Reply
