Despite Previous Controversy, The War Z Returns to Steam
The War Z is back on Steam.
Last December, Hammerpoint Interactive's zombie survival MMO The War Z (not to be confused with Bohemia Interactive's zombie survival mod turned standalone game DayZ) was pulled from Steam just a day after its store page went live. Users who purchased the game immediately felt buyer's remorse after discovering various discrepancies between the actual game and the product description provided on the store page and levied complaints against the game. After a brief investigation, Valve saw fit to pull the game from Steam.
Now, The War Z has made a re-appearance on Steam with a short explanation from Valve. "The War Z is now available for purchase on Steam," reads the announcement. "Valve and Hammerpoint Interactive collaborated to address community feedback, update the Steam store page, and make the title available for purchase worldwide. In addition, a patch has been released to update existing customers. As such, the special refund offering extended for The War Z Steam customers who previously purchased the title has concluded."
The issues that The War Z purchasers had with the game have been pulled. The original offending descriptions that caused the game's removal in the first place have been altered, including claims such as "Each world has areas between 100 to 400 square kilometers."
Despite the changes, Steam users still aren't satisfied. There have been quite a few topics posted on The War Z Steam discussions area complaining about the game, including another petition to remove further claims of "false advertising."

echondo It should have just stayed dead. It won't sell that much this time around.Reply
Greedy developers, I bet nothing has changed. -
bryonhowley Well reading the Steam forums it becomes clear really fast that Steam users are not satisfied with any game period. They will cry and whine about any game for any reason and most times there are really no real problems with the game.Reply -
benage I'm just bummed that I didn't buy my copy via Steam otherwise I would have got the refund :-P I really tried to like this game but it is pretty darn bad. I've seen far better free games out there. It kinda has the same feel to it as those dodgy iOS or Android games that get you hooked into spending more and more money just to progress that little bit further...a real shame as it has some huge potential...Reply -

This is quite true. However, in the case of this game the whining is completely justified. -

enewmen I like the basic idea of WarZ.Reply
1 Just wish it really has all it claims
2 A much larger world that requires survival skills more than death-match skills.
3 Optional / configurable Survivor NPCs on the servers - most friendly, some unfriendly.
Just personal hopes. -

Once the Internet gets an idea into its head, that's it. The game is doomed to a lifetime of criticism and nothing they do will ever be good enough.Reply
