Apple Not in Talks to Invest in Twitter
A recent report from NY Times stirred the rumor pot that Apple may be investing in Twitter. Bloomberg just dispelled such rumors.
Recently, the New York Times reported that Apple was in talks to invest in Twitter, according to undisclosed sources.
Although Apple's had its successes in hardware, it has relatively little influence in the social media department. Apparently, Apple considered putting hundreds of millions into Twitter, to inflate its valuation from $8.4 billion to over $10 billion.
However, Bloomberg dispelled any rumors of these talks going anywhere yesterday, when it reported that its sources claimed that these discussions happened well over a year ago and that Apple and Twitter decided to call off these talks.
Though Apple has increasingly integrated Twitter into its phones, tablets, and notebooks—Mountain Lion has direct support for Twitter—don't expect to see any news of Apple throwing its money towards Twitter's way. Yes, the ruckus was essentially all for nothing.
