At CES last year, Sony's Xperia Z1 stole the show. One year later, Sony has debuted a refreshed version of the Z1 in the form of the Z1s, which is exclusive to T-Mobile (you can read about that here). However, Sony is also bringing out a little brother to the Z1s, and it's called the Z1 Compact.
The Z1 Compact is quite a bit smaller than the Z1s, but it's not a small phone. Instead of the 5-inch 1080p display of the full-fledged Z1s, the Z1 Compact has a 4.3-inch 720p display. However, Sony hasn't scaled back on the specs in too many other areas. The Z1 Compact has the same Snapdragon 800 (clocked to 2.2 GHz) running the show, as well as 16 GB of onboard storage, 20-megapixel camera, and Android 4.3. It does have a smaller battery, though, jumping from 3,000 mAh to 2,300 mAh.
Of course, the most important aspect of this device is the fact that it's waterproof, and the Xperia Z1 Compact is as waterproof as its big brother.
Color options are black, white, yellow and pink/red. No word on pricing, but Sony says we can expect to see this bad boy hit stores next month. Stay tuned for hands on photos!
