See the Laptop With Two Full-sized Screens

For those of us who transition between a multi-monitor setup on our desktops and have to go back to just one display on a laptop, gScreen might be the answer.

Alaska-based gScreen Corp. is designing a laptop with two 15.4-inch screens built in. While a laptop with two screens isn't a completely new idea, as Lenovo has already executed the idea, this one from gScreen does so with two full sized displays that slide out side by side.

Spacebook planned specs:

- 2 LED backlit display screens- Windows Vista/ Windows XP Pro (optional)

- Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26-GHz

- 4 GB of RAM (2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM x 2)

- 320GB 7200 RPM HD

- Nvidia GeForce 9800M GT with 512MB dedicated memory (or)

- Nvidia Quadro FX 1700M Graphics with 512MB dedicated memory

- 9-cell battery

- IEEE 1394 1 Graphics Card Output (15-pin, D-Sub) X 1, HDMI X 1 Mic-in X 1, Line-in x 1, Headphone X 1 PCI Express Card X 1 AC Power Adaptor Output: 19V DC, 90W Input: 100~240V AC, 50/60Hz universal battery pack Li-ion 9 cells

Gizmodo has early images of this laptop in the flesh:

Looks cool, huh? It'll weigh a hefty 12 lbs though. Would you have a good use for it?

You would have to buy two business class airplane ticket so you could use your laptop. I don't think at 12 pounds it will sell well.

For videoediting purposes this thing could probably change the way most people think about on site editing. If the resolution is good enough (atleast 1680x1050) I'd say this computer could make way for a small revolution in post production.

That would be awesome with Ubuntu running multi-head but I would like a pair of 17in screens. Battery charge won't last long with both screens running but it probably only activates one screen if you don't slide them both out. I could live with lower battery duration since it's more of a portable workstation than a laptop.

Does anyone know if you will be able to only use one of the screens if your crunched for space?

I don't think they understand the main purpose of laptop: compact, portable and lightweight.

I'm a draftsman and having dual screen functionality on the building site or even during a client meeting somewhere else than the shop would be fantastic. Even if I had to be plugged in every time I used it, I would gladly shell out the extra cost!
