'Mirror's Edge Catalyst' Videos Show Faith's New Moves And Combat Skills

The news on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has been slim over the past few months, but the developers at DICE want to change that with two new videos that showcase some of Faith’s new abilities.

Move Faster

The original Mirror’s Edge attracted players with Faith’s parkour-style movements. For the most part, DICE implemented the same mechanics in Catalyst along with the new Shift move, which provides a short burst of speed. The extra maneuver could help in situations such as leaping over large gaps or running away from enemies.

The Quickturn move also makes a comeback in Catalyst. In the first game, you made a quick 180-degree turn to change direction. In the new game, you can also make quick 90-degree turns, which could be vital while running in hallways or down narrow passages.

Fight Smarter

Faith relies on her martial arts skills to quickly take down enemies, but she can also grab an enemy’s gun to even the odds against her. For Catalyst, she has two new gadgets at her disposal. The mag rope latches onto certain objects and allows Faith to swing across great distances. She also has a disrupter device on her glove to disrupt communications on KrugerSec soldiers or even destroy drones throughout the world.

The Waiting Game

In the coming months, the team at DICE and its publisher, EA, will likely show off more content from Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. If you want a chance to check out the game before it launches, your best option is to sign up for the closed beta session. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but a specific date for the beta has not been announced.

I hope it's not like the original, flashy neon colors everywhere, stupid 1st person camera spinning, jumping, even grabbing ledges the stupid camera wiggles etc, you just get motion sickness within mins of game play and makes this awesome concept a non-playable game

to correct that, you can get motion sickness, i never had an issue when it comes to head bob or any motion on screen, but i have had friends who threw up because of doom... my issue when it comes to a game making me sick comes down to framerate and field of view. the worst game i ever played for making me sick was glover, it is the one game i was not able to power through and get better, while most other 3d games i could.

The FIRST game ran perfectly for me, without any motion sickness. I doubt most people will have issue and of course those with these issues may need to avoid the game.

I don't have any issue with the 1st person implementation either.

First game was GOOD. This looks to be better.

Looks like a reasonable step up from the first game... which was a blast. After playing ME, the parkour moves in Assassins Creed seemed overly simplistic.

Perhaps a first-person parkour game is not for you.

So you want the sequel to omit everything that made the original game unique and appealing both visually and gameplay-wise? Epic logic.
