Nook HD and Nook HD+ Arrive in the UK

Looks like UK consumers are going to be spoiled for choice this year when it comes to ereaders. Barnes & Nobles' Nook HD and Nook HD+ are launching in the United Kingdom, joining the Kindle Fire in the UK marketplace. The company says those that pre-ordered the device should receive their shipment sometime this week. Additionally, you'll be able to find both tablets on the shelves at John Lewis, Argos, Asda, Dixons, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Blackwell's, and Foyles, as well as online through

"Our new tablets offer the best quality reading and entertainment experiences, at the best price. With the highest resolution 7-inch display available in the UK, every book read, every movie watched, every game played is rendered in a digital quality unmatched by other tablets," said Jamie Iannone, President of NOOK Media. "Pre-orders have exceeded our expectations and we look forward to UK customers being able to experience these stunning new tablets."

The Nook HD packs a 7-inch display, a dual-core 1.3GHz CPU (B&N claims the Nook HD is 80 percent faster when it comes to graphics processing), and features either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Both are expandable via MicroSD. The Nook HD+ is a little bit bigger, with a 9-inch display, and offers support for 1080p, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and is available in either 16GB or 32GB flavors (again, expandable via MicroSD).

The Nook HD is priced at £159 and £189, while the Nook HD+ will set you back £229 or £269.

this extremely cheap tablet with good processing power and expandable storage should be more popular. its very good to see these kinds of tablets priced so cheap. but I dont think we'll see anymore from other vendors. Google, Amazon, and B&N sell their tablets at manufacturing cost and rely heavily on their own app stores. other vendors like samsung, acer, and toshiba dont have any apps to rely on for profit so they sell tablets with a profit margin(unless vendor has a nexus deal).

i just hope B&N nook isnt widely ignored like its been here in USA.
