AMD adds new processors to its Opteron family

Sunnyvale (CA) - AMD today announced Opteron processors 150, 250 and 850. The chips are clocked with 2.4 GHz and are designed for one, two and four/eight-way processing.

The new x50 series marks the new top-end of AMD's, increasing the the clock speed of the x48 products from 2.2 GHz to 2.4 Ghz. The chips keep the 1 MByte L2 cache, a Dual DDR 400 memory interface and the socket 940.
