As was rumored from leaked photos, the Nexus 5 in a bright red color is available for sale now through the Google Play store. We expect that the new red model will carry the same hardware tweaks as the first revision -- those being the enlarged speaker grills and more solid buttons.
Thankfully the red color adds no premium charge on top of the original base prices, making the 16 GB model $349 and the 32 GB model $399. Interestingly, as of this writing, the red model is available to ship in one to two business days, while some of the black and white models are showing shipping times of two to three weeks. Could it be that there are more hardware tweaks introduced in the red model that are slowly being transitioned into the black and white models? We won't know until we get our hands on one. We've also reached out to Google for answers.
Red might also be just the first color option for the Nexus 5. Another rumor named six new colors to be added to the line, so there could be more coming soon.
