Apple Appeals Against Samsung Lawsuit Loss in Japan

Tokyo judge ruled that Samsung's smartphones and Galaxy Tablet 7 did not infringe on Apple's patents.

Apple has officially filed for an appeal in one of its losses against Samsung in one of the many patent cases between the two technology giants

The firm has filed the necessary paperwork that it hopes will reverse a Tokyo judge's decision that smartphones and tablets belonging to Samsung not infringing on Apple's patents.

Apple had initially filed the aforementioned lawsuit during August, where it accused Samsung's Galaxy S and Galaxy S II smartphones, as well as the Galaxy Tablet 7 infringing on its patents pertaining to the synchronization of music and video to servers.

A few days before the lawsuit's decision was made, Apple had experienced its biggest ever victory against Samsung by being awarded $1.05 billion in damages, which jeopardizes the sale of several Samsung devices in the U.S. The latter, however, has requested for the trial to be dismissed due to the judge's personal history.

Samsung has also filed a lawsuit against the iPhone 5 following its release, while Apple were dealt legal blows when a sales ban against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Nexus were both overturned.

    If apple ever made innovative products(which they don't), then they wouldn't need to cheat the patent system to block sales of competitors.

    otacon72So a Japanese court ruled a South Korean company didn't did not infringe on Apple's patents....you don't say..lol. I have no love for Apple but yeah....not exactly shocking news.Relations between koreans and japanese are pretty bad and there are historic reasons for that, you moron.

I have no love for Apple but yeah....not exactly shocking news.If patent offices actually checked patents for prior art both in existing patents and in-the-wild along with assess their technical merit, most of Apple and software patents in general would be denied, we would have far fewer ridiculous patent troll lawsuits and possibly much cheaper products due to lower legal costs.

    not suprised with the verdict.. apple thought they can buy japanese judges. As apple claims before that iphone 3 &4 is successful in japanese as they created a script japanese falling in line on apple store on launched dates.. ... do apple have an idea on what a japanese phone can do?

I have no love for Apple but yeah....not exactly shocking news.You don't seem to know a lot about how the world's history and how the economics work. Japan is precisely one of the places where a South-Corean company would have little chance to attact the sympathy of a judge ! Maybe you were thinking that all Asians look the same, are yellow, eat rice and manufacture counterfeited products from Japan to Singapore... ;-)
