New Bethesda 'Hearthfire' TM Indicates Another Skyrim DLC
There's another Skyrim DLC incoming, but don't expect it to be anything like Dawnguard...
Though it's only been little over a month since Skyrim's first expansion, Dawnguard, was first released on Xbox 360, it looks like Bethesda's got another underway.
Bethesda parent company Zenimax recently filed for a trademark under the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim name called Hearthfire, which references the fictional name for the month of September in the universe's lore.
This filing reinforces a post made by Bethsoft forum user irishandargonian, who claims to have knowledge of Skyrim's DLC from Reddit user derptemp6698. Derptemp6698 was the Reddit user who (accurately) leaked all the Mass Effect 3 DLC. Derptemp6698 gave what seems to be a summary of the expansion, which irishandargonian made public: "Hearthfire™, the next official game-add on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim®, has arrived. For the first time in the Elder Scrolls universe, purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, trophy room, and more! With Hearthfire, the possibilities of what you can build are endless."
While homebuilding might not exactly have been what most Elder Scrolls gamers were looking for in the next Skyrim mod, it's definitely a nice touch. Currently, house customization in the game is a nightmare. And who knows? Maybe setting books on a bookshelf will finally be less of a hair-tearing task.
I call BS on "first time". Morrowind had you join of of the three Great Houses (Hlaaly, Redoran or Telvanni) and after ascending to high enough rank within the House, you would buy a plot and have an architect construct your manor. True enough, there was no customization and it was all pre-defined, but it's NOT the first time in TES we build our own house.
As for the DLC, I'd love to have it, I don't like any of the present houses in Skyrim.
DLC dev team is totally seperate of the patching team. developing new content is not the same line of work as patching already released content , nor should it be handled by that same department. I'm some on in game art design major , and when you are talking massive tripple A titles no major company makes one team do every thing it would be rediculously overworked. creating new content does NOT affect patchign efforts nor do patching efforts affect developing new content. only small dev companies have one team do every thing , and those developers arn't creating games any where near the scope and size of an elderscrolls game.
