Quiet Bug Fixed In 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,' Online Issues Remain

The game-breaking bug plaguing two specific missions in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is finally fixed, thanks to a patch from Konami.

It should be noted that the patch is only currently available for PlayStation 4 and PC players. The fixes for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will have to wait, as their versions are under "final testing" before they come out.

Previously, there was only one way to avoid the issue: choose another buddy for Missions 29 and 42. A few days before the patch surfaced, there was another workaround available. You could still use the sniper Quiet, but there were two caveats. Snake's bond level with Quiet couldn't reach its "MAX" level, and the Butterfly emblem was placed on your custom logo for Mother Base.

Unfortunately, that isn't the only hurdle facing the development team. Online issues continue to persist in the game, specifically on PS4 and Xbox One. The problem makes it way to the main game, most notably through Snake's iDroid device, which is used to manage Mother Base, deploy soldiers, access the map and most importantly, select Snake's missions. Konami performed emergency maintenance on both platforms' servers on September 13, but those on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 seem to have smooth server operations so far.

Despite the issues, it's a relief that Konami is quickly nipping the problem in the bud. Right now, the only form of online gameplay available are the one-on-one FOB, or Forward Operating Base, missions. The full multiplayer experience, Metal Gear Online, is coming in less than a month for consoles. It's not a guarantee that the same server issues won't pop up again in October, but the fact that the company was quick to recognize and attempt to resolve problems should keep players happy.

She's only wearing clothes at all because you can't sell actual naked people in your AAA game. The whole deal with her, super creepy.

    Oh and Fuck Konami :)

The publishers have to be cool with it. CD Projekt RED is indie, so they can do what they want. MGS is not indie.

I think it's creepier that people are so uncomfortable with nudity. What has to be going on in your heads that the naked human body makes you feel so weird?

There's nothing wrong with nudity. There is something wrong with gratuitous nudity. It's tasteless. Especially when they come up with some very poor, limping plot point to justify the nudity. If they would just own up to the fact that the character is just wank fodder, that'd honestly be better. But they don't. Kojima tried to justify it by saying she needs to wear a bikini to survive. And that's just dumb.
