DNF Supports 3D Vision; ''Fully Loaded'' Bundle

Nvidia said the PC version of Duke Nukem Forever will support 3D Vision. The company has also teamed up with EVGA to offer a special GeForce GTX 560 bundle.

The long-awaited, highly-anticipated Duke Nukem 3D sequel from 3D Realms, Gearbox Software and 2K Games arrives on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in North America tomorrow, June 14. But just one day prior to its release, Nvidia has announced that the PC version will feature support for the company's 3D Vision technology.

"Gearbox is integrating full support for Nvidia 3D Vision technology, giving gamers an up-close and personal look into Duke's world," the company said in a press release. "And, with Nvidia Surround technology, gamers can experience Duke's alien battles, beer drinking and world-saving in 3D across three full HD 1080p displays, or in 2D across three 2560 x 1600 displays, for a completely stunning and immersive gaming experience."

Nvidia and EVGA have also teamed up to offer the $244.99 "Fully Loaded Package," a special edition Duke Nukem Forever bundle including the PC game, a limited edition GeForce GTX 560 graphics card by EVGA, a limited edition Duke Nukem Forever strategy guide art book and mouse pad, and a custom Duke Nukem "Radioactive" belt buckle.

In related news, Duke Nukem Forever launched across the globe on June 10 (sans North America, of course) and immediately received mixed reviews. However, various reports indicate that it's currently the best-selling game in the UK despite the numerous poor reviews, ranking #1 on the charts. 56-percent of Duke Nukem Forever sales were reportedly on the Xbox 360, 30-percent on the PlayStation 3, and 14-percent on Windows PC.

But based on the Metacritic scores thus far, the PC version has actually scored the highest of the three, ranking the game at 76 out of 100 (4 reviews). Trailing behind is the PlayStation 3 version at 62-percent (5 reviews) followed by the Xbox 360 version at 50-percent (12 reviews). These numbers will likely jump up once the game hits North America.

    Well, the game has not received very favorable reviews (save from PCgamer). I played the demo. It is not very good and 3D and other gimmicks aren't going to compensate that.

    3d isnt a gimmick... it can be used in gimmicky ways, but the concept itself isnt a gimmick, when you get the chance, uncharted 3 proves this hands down, and so does zelda on the 3ds.

    but its possible this game isnt for you, i love serious sam style games and thats what im expecting from dnf with more jokes along the way, and less enemies on screen at once.

    I'm going to buy an play it just to say I lived long enough to play the original (when it was released) and sequel. Probably won't get a 3D setup since Nvidia 3D Vision is only supported on Linux with the Quadro boards.

    The game is very funny and depicts the classic DN3D very, very well.

    It's kinda short on puzzles, the good ol' kick is missing (don't care about the "on use" animated kick) and only 2 weapons at a time (which sucks in a major league of fail), but it's a very entertaining game. So far, so good (heading to the "Hoover" ATM).

    Oh, and the Steam achievements are very funny xD

    Hope they put more down the road with the MP.

    Does Nvidia intend to run DNF on three screens off of one card? I thought Nvidia cards were still stuck with outputiing two screens tops.

    Graphics don't make a game, fun makes a game. All these arguements arose when Doom 3 came out, the graphics were better but some people complained that the gameplay wasn't as much fun.

    You will see multiplayer Dukematch games aplenty online and that is going to be where the replay value lies, I must have spent thousands of hours on the original playing Dukematch and this is just as much fun.
