LoveFilm Arrives on UK Wiis

Netflix UK might have just snagged an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. Television but rival LoveFilm will soon be on Wiis across the country.
The Amazon-owned on-demand services announced the news via its official blog this week. LoveFilm revealed that it is now available via the Nintendo Wii. All you need is a Wii, a LoveFilm subscription and an internet connection.

The LoveFilm app can be downloaded from the Wii Shopping Channel (it's free). Once you have it, you can stream movies and TV shows to your heart's content. However, LoveFilm does recommend a connection speed of at least 2Mbps for the best viewing experience. Because the original Wii is not an HD console, it'll be standard def content across the board.

If you just picked up a Wii U (or are planning to get one), you'll be pleased to know that LoveFilm will be available on the high definition Wii U in due time. As Pocket-Lint points out, the Lovefilm app came pre-installed on the Wii U, but the service is yet to be activated on the platform. LoveFilm didn't mention when it would be activated, but we imagine it won't be too much longer.
