More Players Invited To Beta Test 'Overwatch' For The Weekend Of Nov 19-23
A select group of players are already part of the closed beta session for Overwatch, Blizzard's upcoming first-person shooter. However, the developers will allow even more players into the beta testing process with its upcoming Beta Test Weekend.
The event starts at 9 am PST on November 20 and ends at 9 am PST on November 23. During this time, players will have access to the full 21-character roster of heroes and play across three maps.
Those chosen to participate will be notified as early as Thursday, November 19, which should provide enough time to download the game and install the client. The main reason for the influx of players is to put the game's servers on a stress test to see if it can handle a larger number of players at the same time. The developers are also interested in each user's hardware configurations with the intended goal of pushing various systems to their limits, so expect some issues with gameplay performance and connections to the server.
The company mentioned that the selection process is based on a series of factors, such as your hardware configuration, when you signed up to try out the game's beta, your Battle.net region (for now, this beta session is available only for Europe and the Americas), and also a little bit of luck.
This will be the first time that developers are inviting more players to beta-test Overwatch, but there are bound to be more trials of a similar nature between now and its release date of spring 2016.
