Siri and Raspberry Pi: A Match Made in Heaven

Raspberry Pi has captured the minds of developers around the world. Despite the fact that it was designed for teaching kids the basics of computer science, the tiny $35 computer has found its way into the hearts of grown-up devs, too, each one trying something weirder or whackier than the last.
This latest example of Raspberry Pi magic involves Apple's electronic personal assistant, Siri. Launching as an official feature on iOS 5 with the iPhone 4S, Siri helps iPhone users schedule their appointments, find local establishments and search the web. However, with Raspberry Pi, Siri is capable of so much more.
Geek.com reports that one enthusiast has managed to marry the two with impressive results. Posting to the Raspberry Pi forums, user DarkTherapy explains how he achieved the feat using his Raspberry Pi running the "wheezy" distro, SiriProxy and wiringPi. The result? As well as making appointments, calling contacts, and setting reminders, Siri is now capable of other tasks, such as opening the garage door. Naw I kid, Siri is pretty cool. I used microsofts voice recognition, trained it, etc for a while and even after 2 months of use it still made a LOT of mistakes. Siri, on day one, knew nearly everything I said.
Voice recognition existed far before Siri, but Siri is pretty damn good at understanding. Even understands my old mans heavy french accent.
