Dungeon Siege 3 Demo Launched on Steam

As promised, Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment has launched a playable demo of their upcoming action-RPG game for the PC, Dungeon Siege 3. The trial was originally launched on Xbox Live as an early Gold membership perk last week, but PC gamers can now get their dungeon-crawling fix from Valve Software's Steam platform, weighing at a hefty 1.5 GB download.

According to the Steam listing, the demo features both single-player and co-op gameplay modes, the latter of which requires two controllers. Two out of four characters are available to play: Lucas, the Guardian and Anjali, the Archon. Previous hands-on reports indicate that the third installment is quite different from its successors, focusing on co-op play and decisions, and less on loot gathering and managing NPCs.

"For centuries legionnaires have protected the nation of Ehb until they were betrayed and all but driven to the brink of extinction," reads the demo's description. "Now that evil has returned to Ehb the people turn to the few remaining Legionnaires for the protection of the past. As an heir to the legion will you accept this plea for help? How it will all be resolved is up to you!"

The co-op in the demo is offline only and requires two controllers (PC)?

DS1 and DS2 where some of my favorite games of all time. Aside from the constant upgrading of equipment/leveling up that made it very hard for me to stop playing, the two other features from the 1st two appear to be missing in this new DS3 demo. The #1 thing I loved about DS1/2 was that fact the it could be played completely with a mouse. The games were extremely enjoyable siting back on my couch, with no more than a gyration air mouse in hand, watching the adventure unfold on my big screen. I really, really hope that will be possible with the retail version or I wont be purchasing the game. The second thing I loved was that in the 1st two, it felt like I was always walking/running through a National Park. Breathtaking scenery almost all the time. So far, that hasn't been the case. The controls are buggy, and the game has crashed twice in the 1st 45mins on what is other wise a very stable computer. This games is not ready for Dungeon Siege Fans. :-(

It is a demo so that's pretty normal. We should complain after the game is released, not before. Let's hope that we won't complain though :D

The minimum specs are higher than my system and the game isn’t for me anyway.
