Asustek Computer and GeCube have unveiled graphics card products based on AMD’s ATI Radeon HD 4850 GPU. I'd really like to see if the extra RAM helps performance at larger resolutions and whatnot. To date, I've never seen more RAM really offer a performance benefit unfortunately, it's almost as if the cards BIOSes aren't even remotely programmed to make use of it.
I think it has more to do with the game. Its designed to only make use of 256MB video ram. Whats the point of having 4 times more? Maybe if you use custom up-resed textures you can try and force the difference.
Oblivion has some very big retextures, but even they work fine with 512mb... maybe if I use AA8 or something... In anyway these are great for gf, because you the have enough power for higher ress...
What is even more important is that in these pages there are official 4870 specks!
