Hyundai, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy, will start test runs of fuel cell vehicles in California. Over the next five years, AC Transit will test ten Hyundai vehicles for mileage, energy efficiency and durability. During the California test run, the vehicles will face hot temperatures and dry air in the valleys. Runs near the coast will have humid and cool air.
Fuel cells have long been touted as the solution to our energy storage woes. Using either hydrogen or methanol, fuel cells produce energy and very little pollution. The technology is just starting to appear in consumer electronics and high-end video camcorders.
