Today, 2K Games announced that it is opening a new game studio called Hangar 13. The game studio will be led by Haden Blackman, who has a history as a writer at LucasArts Entertainment and has worked on the Star Wars video games as the Senior Executive Producer. With him, the studio aims to build Triple-A titles for both PCs and consoles, with their main quality being that each player will get a unique experience.
"At Hangar 13, our mantra is "Every player story is unique'," said Blackman. "Our ambition is to create next-generation games that allow players to shape their own experiences, from the moment-to-moment gameplay, to the long-term impact on the world, characters and narrative."
2K announced that the studio is already working on a next-gen title, although it did not offer many details. What we do know is that the studio is working on its own proprietary game engine for it, and that's about it. We don't know what it's going to be about, what it will be called, or when it will arrive. Based on the "Every player story is unique" motto, we could make the assumption that we're talking about a game that follows the likes of the Mass Effect trilogy, or the Dragon Age games from BioWare as an RPG, although we shouldn't exclude the possibility of an MMORPG, as those can also provide a unique story for every player.
The studio is located in Novato, California, and is currently in the process of recruiting talent, as Blackman told Polygon in an interview.
So, based on this information, what kind of game do you think is being brewed within the halls of Hangar 13?
