Elder Scrolls Online Announcement Trailer, Leaked Screens
Bethesda has released the official teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls Online. Meanwhile, a batch of screens and artwork have supposedly been leaked.
Following the announcement of The Elder Scrolls Online on Thursday, which loyal Tom's readers have known about since March, Bethesda has released an announcement trailer as promised. As expected, the clip reveals absolutely nothing, but it does point to a new Elder Scrolls Online website which right now is only playing host to the new teaser.
Meanwhile, All Games Beta is displaying artwork and in-game screens which the site claims is from The Elder Scrolls Online. This is the same site that posted leaked screen of Doom 4, and currently there are also a handful of screens from EA's upcoming Crysis 3. That said, the Elder Scrolls screens are probably legit, and Bethesda isn't owning up to the post.
A post on NeoGAF also features a list of details that were supposedly pulled from the Game Informer article. The details claim the game will be played in 3rd-person and offer a hotbar to activate skills just like any other MMO. The game also uses "MMORPG genre standards such as classes, experience points, and other traditional MMORPG progression mechanics, but they try to present it around the core fantasy presented by traditional Elder Scrolls games such as traveling around and righting wrongs or seeking riches."
As reported on Thursday, The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled to arrive on the PC and Mac sometime in 2013. In a first for the franchise, gamers will wander across the entire land of Tamriel a thousand years before the events of Skyrim with other playersin a MMORPG setting. It will be a time of adventure, excitement, and certain doom as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.
"We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted," director Matt Firor said in a press release on Thursday. "It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."
Game Informer will cover details ranging from solo questing to exploring in public dungeons. Also covered will be a peek at the player-driven PvP conflict that "pits the three player factions against each other in open-world warfare over the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor's throne itself." The June issue is slated to arrive later this month.
