Gigabyte Releases the GeForce GT 640 Graphics Card

Gigabyte has released a new budget graphics card, the GeForce GT 640 (GV-N640D5-1GL), which features 384 CUDA cores, 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory over a 64-bit interface clocked at 5000 MHz, and a core clock of 1046 MHz.

The graphics card measures just 157 x 120 x 22 mm, features a single slot cooler, does not require auxiliary power beyond what is supplied by the PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, and offers D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI outputs.

The Gigabyte GeForce GT 640 will be on sale in late July for ¥10,000 (approximately $99).

Nice for a low profile card, but approx. $100 feels way overpriced.

For everyone confused, this is a GDDR5 card compared to the DDR3 of other GT640's.

If you look, all of those were recently released. This is Gigabyte's first GDDR5 640. Sorry for confusion.
