Apple is reportedly placing a big bet on their forthcoming unannounced miniature tablet, the iPad Mini, by ordering 10 million units for the Christmas shopping season.
The Wall Street Journal refers to sources in the Taiwanese supply chain, who apparently confirmed the shipment figures for the tablet is around double the amount of Kindle Fire tablets ordered by Amazon for 2012's fourth quarter.
Speculation regarding the iPad Mini has been increasing ever since the iPhone 5 launched. Following mockup images of the iPad Mini surfacing, it was suggested that Apple is preparing to announce the device on October 17.
Meanwhile, production of the tablet, which seemingly features a 7.85-inch LCD screen, is said to have already commenced in Asia.
