Microsoft Rumored to Change Windows Logo in Windows 8
A new breed of Windows could have a slightly more contemporary logo.
The iconic Microsoft Windows "flag" logo could be getting a makeover in time for the launch of Windows 8. We all know this logo very well:
Going even further back, we can see the wavy flag inspiration's humble beginnings:
According to cnBeta, Microsoft will be straightening things out and the new Windows logo will do away with the curves to look more like a real-world window:
The supposed upcoming logo also matches up well with the square and rectangle design language of Metro.
It's unconfirmed, as even the latest leaked builds of Windows 8 still feature the present flag logo, but we'll know soon enough.

vicenarian Looks totally ugly. The original Windows logo is iconic; this new logo prototype is easily forgettable. I mean, it's what, just four rectangles lined up and tilted a bit. Big deal. Whoopee.Reply
It's like taking the Apple logo and changing it to a pear (or other random fruit). It just loses its iconic-ness. -
Netherscourge Awful.Reply
First they dump the START button. Now they dump their logo.
Why call it windows anymore? Just call it "Bill's slowly dying Money Printing OS"

nbraybrook Windows 8 is just getting worse and worse... Make it look and act like 7, give me the performance improvements of 8, make sure I NEVER see metro UI unless I install on a tablet, and ill be happy...Reply -
sporkimus I'm beginning to feel more and more confident that I'll be able to skip right over this OS and not feel like I missed anything at all.Reply -
sunflier It's unconfirmed, as even the latest leaked builds of Windows 8 still feature the present flag logo...
UNconfirmed. Is this a slow news day Tom's? -
illfindu I like it, and unless you have tried a windows 8 build you shouldn't comment if played with it on tablets and on my desktop and I think it has some really slick features. I think its gonna add allot but I think 9 is really gonna change the OS industry for most main stream consumersReply
