Energy Efficiency: AMD vs. Intel
L2 Stepping for E6600 and E6700
For now, the energy efficient L2 stepping is exclusive to the small Core 2 models with 2 MB of L2 cache. So far, this stepping exists for neither the Core 2 Duo processors from the E6600 upwards, nor for the Core 2 Extreme line of dual and quad-core CPUs. The E6320 and E6420 with 4 MB of cache, both introduced only recently, are only available in the B2 version as well.

Identification in a Running System
With the processor installed in a PC, identifying its stepping is easy. Simply launch a system information utility such as CPU-Z or Everest, which will supply a wide range information, including details about the CPU.
