Power And Temperature

System Builder Marathon, Q2 2013: $1300 Enthusiast PC

The power consumption figures below fall pretty close to each other. But it's important to point out that today's mini-ITX-based build enjoys significantly more graphics performance and an additional storage device. Of course, it's also quite a bit more expensive. But we still have to admire how little power the GeForce GTX 680 uses given its considerable speed.

The Tahiti-powered Radeon HD 7870 employs an excellent cooler, though the GeForce GTX 680's reference heat sink and fan do well enough. In contrast, the mini-ITX build's Antec Kuhler H2O 620 closed-loop liquid cooler keeps temperatures significantly lower than the Rosewill RCX-ZAIO we used last time (though the heat sink is less than a third of the price).
