Chromecast Finally Hits Amazon UK
But it's going to cost you.
Earlier this week, Amazon started shipping Google's Chromecast internationally. If for some reason you weren't comfortable with the idea of purchasing from Amazon.com and are located in the United Kingdom, you might like to know that the device has officially gone on sale on Amazon UK. Unfortunately, as with a lot of electronics, the pricing isn't exactly on par with what customers in the United States are paying.
TechRadar reports that Chromecast is now for sale on Amazon UK for a whopping £60. In case you've forgotten (or blocked it out because the pain of the injustice was too much to bear), allow us to remind you how much folks in the U.S. are paying: $35. That equates to just over £20 by today's exchange rates. In other words, those in the UK are kind of getting shafted.
Oh, and just in case you were reconsidering ordering from Amazon.com to get the device at a lower price (but sans free shipping), well, we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's no longer an option. It's Amazon UK or bust.
Chromecast is a media streaming adapter that Google announced back in July. The 2-inch dongle connects to your TV via the HDMI port and streams audio/video content over WiFi, allowing the user to stream content to their TV from either the Chrome browser or from their mobile phone or tablet. The device sold out at Amazon and Best Buy soon after it launched this past summer.

ChristAlexander amazon.co.uk is NOT selling the Chromecast. Third party sellers are selling Chromecast THROUGH Amazon.co.uk and have been doing that for some time. This is why the price is so expensive, they are importing from US and reselling in the UK. This is NOT AN AMAZON OFFERED ITEM.Reply -
Vorador2 What ChristAlexander said. This one is imported from US and sold by a third party with a huge price markup. Amazon is not responsible for this.Reply
Seriously, contrast your sources. TechRadar should be ashamed, and Tom's too.

tomkenning Agree with other commentors, I don't know why so many websites are reporting that Amazon UK are selling Chromecast. They will not be selling it officially themselves until Google launches it in the UK officially!!!!Reply -
Mike00001 For a few days amazon.com were selling Chromecast for £35 for UK delivery, duty and tax paid. It was a mistake, and they have now retracted the offer.Reply
