Retailers Now Offering PS4/PS Vita Bundle in UK

Early last week, word got out that Sony was planning to announce an 'Ultimate' PS4 bundle for the United Kingdom. This bundle would contain both a PS4 and Sony's portable PS Vita handheld console. Now, just one week later, it's official. Eurogamer reports that Sony has confirmed the bundle's existence and that it is now available for purchase.

Priced at just under £500 (roughly the price of a PS4 and PS Vita purchased separately), the bundle is described as a 'soft bundle' in that it won't be marketed as a traditional bundle. Instead, retailers will market the offer in different ways, including offering customers a deal on the PS Vita when purchasing a PS4.

"It'll come to market in a few different shapes and guises. You may walk in and get a great deal on 'buy a Vita when bought with' type deal. So if you buy a PS4, you can get a Vita for X. And others will say, well here's the Ultimate Bundle, and you get all those bits in it."

Sony says the bundles are already showing up in stores, though it's not a simultaneous roll out across all stores, and some may be later than others in offering the deal (due to PS4 stock and pre-orders).

The PS4 launched this past Friday, November 29, in the United Kingdom and Australia. The UAE and Saudi Arabia will follow on December 13, with Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia getting the console on December 17, 18, 19, and 20, respectively. The PS4 console packs an eight-core 64-bit x86 Jaguar CPU from AMD; a GPU with a unified array of 18 compute units, collectively capable of generating 1.84 Teraflops of processing power; 8 GB of RAM; 802.11n WiFi; Bluetooth 2.1; USB 3.0; and an upgradeable 500 GB hard drive.
