New Generation PC 5.1 Speaker Systems
Creative Gigaworks G550W
The Creative Gigaworks ProGamer G550W system has the longest name in this comparison, and while it lacks digital connectivity and DTS decoding, it has some nifty features that differentiate it from the competition.
Creative employed a clever strategy to integrate the G550W with some other Creative products. For instance, if you have one of the supported models of Creative's Zen MP3 player, you will be able to use the G550W's wireless remote to control the MP3 player. In addition, if you're into wireless headphones, the G550Ws give you the option of interfacing with them directly.
That might be pretty neat stuff, but what about the meat and potatoes of the system? Well, the G550W has some impressive hardware, boasting the largest and most powerful subwoofer in this comparison. It is composed of an 8" driver, traditionally mounted in the enclosure, and fed with 130 watts of power.
The satellites are also the biggest of the contenders, each driver measuring 3" diameter and fed with 36 watts. Even though the satellite driver is only ½" larger than Logitech's, the satellite enclosures are much larger.

asheesh1_2000 For me partially wireless is worse than wired so instead I am considering Logitech Z-5500. This article is 2 years old so I am assuming that Primal 5.1 was not released then otherwise I think it also would have been included.Reply
