Asus Reveals ROG TYTAN CG8890 Gaming Desktop PC
The latest ROG desktop from Asus features a liquid-cooled Intel Core i7-3960X processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 GPU.
On Friday Asus revealed the ROG TYTAN CG8890 Desktop PC, a visually impressive gaming rig powered by a liquid-cooled Intel Core i7-3960X processor with Turbo Gear, and the latest Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 4 GB DDR5 graphics card that supports up to four monitors. It also comes packed with a possible dual 128 GB SATA 3 SSDs in RAID 0, delivering four times greater data access speeds than generic HDDs.
"On top of the aerodynamic polygonal exterior that features an intricately designed chassis that transforms when the system is overclocked, the additional DEFCON and bottom grill lighting indicator shows system readiness with blue and red LED lights," Asus said. "With its upgraded 10-way venting and liquid cooled CPU, the CG8890’s case is a cooling behemoth engineered to deliver the most efficient heat dissipation and airflow for incredible stability in any extreme condition."
With one-click Turbo Gear overclocking, the 6-core CPU can be instantly overclocked to reach a maximum speed of 4.2 GHz with no need to reboot, Asus said. Turbo Gear offers three modes while the DEFCON indicator and bottom grill lighting shows system readiness with blue and red LED lights. They are as follows:
Startup mode
ROG logo + bottom grill lights up blue, with the CPU overclocked to 3.8 GHz
Turbo Gear mode
ROG logo + bottom grill lights up red, with the CPU overclocked to 4.0 GHz
Turbo Gear extreme mode
ROG logo + bottom grill lights up red, with the CPU overclocked to 4.2 GHz
For the PC gamer who can't afford the extreme high-end components, the new Asus ROG TYTAN CG8890 Desktop PC will presumably arrive in different configurations, offering various 2nd-generation Intel Core i7 Extreme processors. Other components will include Nvidia's GeForce GTX 680 2 GB DDR5 video card, between 4 GB and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 15 TB of HDD storage, up to 256 GB of SSD storage, an assortment of optical drives and more.

According to the specs, the front IO panel plays host to a 16-in-1 card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a microphone jack and a headphone jack. The rear panel is a bit more loaded, packing one PS/2 port, two eSATA 6 Gb/s ports, one RJ45 port, four USB 3.0 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, a Clear CMOS button and more.
"The additional ASUS Xonar DX audio card powered by Dolby Home Theater technologies delivers 35 times cleaner audio quality (116dB SNR) than onboard audio codecs, giving gamers the edge by hearing their enemy way before the enemy sees them," Asus added.
So far pricing and an actual release date is unknown, so stay tuned.

Do Asus desktops come with their aftermarket ROG motherboards and DirectCU Graphics Card,
or do they use those cheap a$$ green colored mobo and reference cooled GPU , as in on the high end ones. -
