Intel Names Musician Will.i.am Creative Director
We haven’t seen a creative pairing like this since Lady GaGa joined Polaroid.
Intel has named Black Eyed Peas front man and hit solo artist Will.i.am its director of creative innovation. Unlike many celebrity endorsements, it appears as though Will.i.am will actually have some responsibilities to fulfil at his new job. In a statement release yesterday, the giant outlined the 35-year-old singer’s position at the company.
“In his unique role, will.i.am will collaborate with Intel on many creative and technology endeavors across the “compute continuum” that may include such devices as laptops, smart phones and tablets. Complementing his visionary role as the front man for The Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am is also already working on music expressly for Intel.”
Already outfitted with his Intel employee ID badge, Will.i.am, real name William James Adams, said he is excited to be working with Intel. Speaking at a news conference in Anaheim, where Intel is holding an internal sales and marketing conference, the Black Eyed Peas singer talked of his strong connections to technology and said Intel makes him think of creativity.
“Nearly everything I do involves processors and computers, and when I see an Intel chip I think of all the creative minds involved that help to amplify my own creativity,” said Will.i.am. “Teaming up with the scientists, researchers and computer programmers at Intel to collaborate and co-develop new ways to communicate, create, inform and entertain is going to be amazing.”
Intel VP and CMO Deborah Conrad added that Intel is thrilled to be able to tap into Will.i.am’s “limitless” creativity.
“We’re thrilled to tap into the limitless creativity Will.i.am brings to the table. He’s not only a brilliant artist and producer, but also an innovator pushing the bounds of technology professionally and personally. We share a strong interest in innovation around music, art and lifestyle, and are excited to join forces to establish an authentic, emotional connection with consumers.”

snoogins You all may dislike anything popular in today's world, but I thought lady gaga's ideas that came out of Polaroid were pretty spiffy.Reply
Give it a chance, how can it be bad for any of you? -
acadia11 You ever have one of those moments when you feel like what am I doing with my life. This is one of them. Actually, it sounds crazy but this is a great move by Intel, musicians are notoriously creative and being at the fore front of using and creating technology believe it or not. Sting, is another musician who comes into mind, in this mold. Who was using standard computing to create music and even distribute it long ago, as well as developing his own software to improve the process. Don't sleep.Reply -
zak_mckraken As much I do find Will.I.Am creative, I sincerely doubt he could help Intel in any way. Unless he has some computer engineering degree I haven't heard of, it's only a publicity stunt to me.Reply -

he could release a throng of fail products and drop my stock price.
and really there are tons of other people I would like to see creating things, Intel makes processors, how truly creative can you get with those?
