It's been a very mobile-mad couple of months. Things were just dying down from the smartphone, tablet, and ultrabook fest that was CES 2012 when Mobile World Congress kicked off in Barcelona, bringing with it a deluge of mobile devices, processors and related hardware for us to obsess over. For those of you that have had your fill of Tegra 3, Android, and touchscreens for the time being, we've got a lovely little tidbit of news on MSI's GT780 GX laptop.
Alleged specs for MSI's as yet unannounced GT780 GX have surfaced and they're pretty tantalizing. Notebook Italia reports that the heart that beast inside of this laptop is Intel's Core i7 Extreme Edition 2920XM CPU clocked to 4.16GHz thanks to a unique partnership of Turbo Mode and a new heat sink dubbed Cooler Boost. Processor aside, you're looking at a 17.3-inch 1600x900 display (or the choice to go 1920x1080), a whopping 16GB of DDR3, an Nvidia GeForce GTX570M GPU with 3GB of GDDR5 memory onboard, two 7200 RPM 750GB HHDs, USB 3.0, eSATA, HDMI and VGA, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, WiFi, Bluetooth, DVD or Bluray, THX audio, and backlit keyboard.
Though Notebook Italia was able to provide us with this treasure trove of information, sadly none of it included a price or a release date. Still, there's always tomorrow.
