Fractal Design Builds Modular Integra PSU

Fractal Design announced a new PSU – the Integra M. This series of power supplies is based on the original Integra series, but it has modular cables. These power supplies are a value offering from Fractal Design; they are built to be used with workstations and mid-tier gaming computers.

The PSUs will come out in variants with power ratings ranging from 450W to 750W, in 100W increments. All the units are 80 Plus Bronze certified. A 120 mm fan provides cooling.

A key feature of the units is that they're just 140 mm in length. A handful of cases don't support very long PSUs, so having a short PSU with a modular cable set can make building in such cramped spaces a little easier.

Fractal design has given the units a three-year warranty and equipped the Integra M PSUs with all the safety features that we've come to expect from a modern-day power supply, including OPP, OVP, UVP, SCP, and OCP. The company didn't say who manufactures the PSU, though we suspect it is built by HEC. (Update: We've reached out to Fractal Design, and found that the PSUs are made by ATNG)

US MSRP pricing ranges from $54.99 to $84.99, where each $10 will give you 100 additional watts.

And the K20 puts out around 150kW, not a measly 750W.

    Niels,

You "suspect" these are built by HEC? What caused you to think that?

While I see some similarities between these and the Cougar (HEC-built) CMX-series, I see just as many similarities when I compare them to the Enermax Traithlor ECO units. Similarities to both of those series is strange because Fractal hasn't used HEC or Enermax as an OEM previously -- almost all Fractal PSUs are built exclusively by ATNG. (The initial Integra line was built by FSP.)

I guess we won't really know until: Fractal discloses the information, a unit is opened up and dissected, or they show up on the 80plus.org (excuse me... plugloadsolutions.com) website listings.

Oh wait... What's this? Brand new ATNG 450W, 550W, 650W, AND 750W PSU submissions to 80plus.org?

Not much choice to have "all the protections we have come to expect" since all of them are REQUIRED by the ATX spec.

Anything that claims to be ATX-compliant implicitly includes all required protections. If it does not, then you have a fraud case.
