TRENDnet Launches Wireless AC USB Adapter
Looking for a new Wireless AC USB-based adapter for your desktop or laptop? If you don't mind an antenna sticking out of the side of your rig, then TRENDnet's new AC600 High Gain Wireless USB Adapter (TEW-806UBH) may be the answer you're looking for. The gadget is on sale now for a mere $32.99 USD.
According to the specs, the TEW-806UBH provides Wireless AC speeds of 433 Mbps and Wireless N speeds of 150 Mbps. While that sounds rather slow when compared to AC1900 solutions on the market, the high gain 5 dBi antenna makes up for the speed loss by increasing the wireless coverage of the connected PC.
"The adjustable antenna rotates and tilts to further improve wireless connectivity," states the PR. "Additionally, the TEW-806UBH maintains much higher connection speeds when located far from the connected wireless router or access point."
If you don't want an antenna sticking out, TRENDnet also offers the AC600 Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter (TEW-804UB) costing $35.99. This adapter provides Wireless AC speeds up to 433 Mbps and Wireless N speeds up to 150 Mbps. As you can see, both the antenna version and this model provide the same speeds, but the antenna model has better coverage on the 5 GHz band.
For those who need more speed, there's TRENDnet's AC1200 Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter (TEW-805UB). This device is only 3.1 inches long, and provides Wireless AC speeds up to 867 Mbps and Wireless N speeds up to 300 Mbps. This device is also USB 3.0 compatible and retails for $59.99.
