Graphics Boosted: 790GX's Side-Port Explored
SiSoft Sandra 2008
CPU Benchmarks
There is hardly any difference in the CPU benchmark results, as we didn’t modify processor parameters during testing. Whether or not you use side-port memory does not have much influence on low-level CPU performance.
Memory Benchmarks
The situation is a bit different in the Sandra memory benchmark. It is obvious that the use of side-port memory with no involvement of system memory shared with the integrated GPU provides the best main memory performance. This makes sense for systems that don’t run any graphics-intensive applications at all.
