A mediocre product.

We can't recommend the AGS850. Never mind its low performance and build quality for a moment, but the 80 Plus Gold rating that it boasts doesn't match with our testing. Normally, its efficiency levels should be way higher, but our sample, which we bought from Amazon didn't even manage to take the lead from several Bronze efficiency PSUs. Meanwhile, the efficiency numbers that 80 Plus lists on its site are way higher than what we measured with our calibrated equipment. Yes, we conduct the standard tests at higher temperatures, but differences close to 10% are hard to swallow.

Despite the many positive reviews on Amazon (though this PSU isn't for sale from Amazon as of this writing, we don't know why), the Aresgame AGS850 failed to impress us.

To put it mildly, this is a mediocre product. With a similar amount of money (or just a bit more_, you can find much better PSUs, like the Corsair CX850M and the Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2. If you want to spend a little more, you should also look at the Corsair RM850

I think this review simply enforce the fact that you should always buy your PSU from reputable brands like Seasonic, Superflower etc.... For those that you have never heard of, well.....forget it.
