Overclockers Breaks Records with Gigabyte's Z87X-OC

Gigabyte boasts of new records set using its motherboards

Cast your mind back to the blur that was CES 2014, and you might remember our little jaunt to Gigabyte's overclocking event in Caesar's Palace. This event was hosted by Gigabyte with help from Intel, G.SKILL, and Enermax, and we had an awesome time photographing the participants.

Gigabyte has since announced three World Record Overclocking submissions thanks to Vivi and STEPONZ as well as Dinos22 and HiCookie. These guys broke world records on 3DMark06, Unigine Heaven Extreme and Cinebench benchmarks. Gigabyte's own Z87X-OC and Z87X-OC Force boards were used by participants at the events.

"The CES 2014 Extreme OC Event was a fantastic showcase event for Overclocking, underlining GIGABYTE's commitment to the extreme PC segment," HiCookie, Gigabyte's Chief Overclocking Evangelist, commented. "These new world records prove there is always headroom for improved performance if you have a motherboard designed from the ground up to break records, combined with exceptional gear from Intel, G.SKILL and Enermax."

As if three records weren't enough, Gigabyte this week announced the winners of its Retro OC Contest (a special event that tasked participants with revisiting classic 3DMark benchmarks with new hardware) along with two new world records. The company says the highlight of the contest was when overclockers Vivi and 8 Pack set new records for 3DMark06 and 3DMark03 using the Gigabyte Z87X-OC motherboard.

    Exactly who wants to wade through pictures of people standing around doing nothing but staring at OC'd rigs?

    There's not any information in the whole article? You have to go to the last photo to see anything of substance? That's some stellar journalism there.

    Take another, "I'm a dork and you have a chance with me. See I'm wearing a helmet." photos. Then it doesn't matter how bad you are at your job.
