Live Memory Test: Overclock 'Em Till They Crash

Test Procedure: Recording Bandwidth, Temperature And Voltages, Continued

We wanted to devote a special chapter to measurement techniques for determining the exact voltages in the memory modules. In previous live tests we used the Voltcraft M3860-M multimeter by Conrad Electronic, Germany, but this time we used the brand new Voltcraft VC960.

Good quality measurement device from Conrad Electronic: the new Voltcraft VC960 multimeter.

To determine the real supply voltage of the memory module live while the machines were running, we needed to make a few modifications to the motherboard.

Here we made the relevant contacts on the memory's socket.

The terminal assignment of DDR2 memory modules was very important; each has 244 pins.

System analysis using the software.
