Tom's Overclocking Contest Date Set!

This is just to let all of you who sent us your credentials in hopes of becoming candidates in the Tom’s Hardware Overclocking Contest that the contest date has now been confirmed. The contest will be held on September 19, 2008 in Los Angeles.

MSI atteint 4.2 GHz via un système à changement de phase

For the record, this is not the system contestants will be using.

We will be contacting all who applied in a week or two. We have all of the applications you sent, but if you don’t hear from us within two weeks, send an email.

For more on the contest and info on how to apply or contact us, check out our earlier article.

We’ll be answering your questions about the contest soon. Do note that Tom’s Hardware will supply system hardware. Any and all mods to the hardware we provide are acceptable short of replacing the hardware. Liquid nitrogen is fair game for the contest.

Why not just replace the case with an air conditioner? Seems cheap and effective lol. I've seen people do it on the most reputable site... ever... youtube.

I agree break it down, makes no damn sense to mix everything up, the best will be either LN2 or Phase. Hell I can beat any one if I have LN2 and you give me the hardware.. I came in 7th in GigaBytes overclocking contest not to long ago with air and was 2nd up against water systems and I had air...

H20WIRED: Some people enjoy it as a hobby, that's why they would sink the money into it. I agree with other posters, there should be different categories based on cooling types. Oh, and it's "Porsche" btw, I would hope that 5k would get you a car that could go faster than a porch :-p
