Super Talent Introduces the UltraDrive MX3 SSD

Super Talent Technology has launched the UltraDrive MX3 range of solid state drives that are designed to survive a “high endurance atmosphere filled with shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures” and intended for use in enterprise data centers and in desktops and laptops. The UltraDrive MX3 features a SATA III interface that offers read and write speeds of up to 500 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively.

The Super Talent UltraDrive MX3 will be available with either MLC or SLC flash memory and in capacities ranging from 64 GB to 512 GB.

    Nothing here really caught my attention until I read the last line. If this is going to be available with SLC NAND in the consumer version it could be very popular with some people who want the added speed and reliability. In all likelihood the SLC variant will be for datacenters and the MLC variant will be the consumer version.

    I'm guessing the SLC NAND versions will be out of reach of consumers because of pricing. We shall see...
