Tom's Hardware launches interactive Hard Disk Charts
Westlake Village (CA) - Not sure which hard drive to buy? Curious how new hard drives compare to your drives? Here's the answer: Tom's Hardware today expanded its interactive performance comparison tools with Hard Disk Charts: Compare current hard drives in 16 disciplines to find out which one works best for you. A new price/performance index now reveals the most bang for the buck in real time.
Harddrive is not hard drive. It's nothing new to frequent readers of Tom's Hardware that there is more to storing data than plain capacity. Interfaces, transfer speeds, access times, price and more can play a critical part in purchasing the right device for a specific purpose. For several years, we have been taking hard drive models through our relentless benchmark parcours to crown the best buys at a certain time.
Now, for the first time, you can compare two harddrives yourself using our interactive Hard Disk Charts. Just as you already can compare two processors or graphic cards, you can run two hard drives through several benchmark disciplines covering all obstacles of every day computing to find out which drive fits best your needs. The Charts currently cover 26 current hard drive models and will be expanded on an ongoing basis.
Also a first is the integration of real-time pricing data provided by TG Stores. This new feature enables users to create a performance ranking based on current pricing of the device and calculate the cost per GB for each drive.
