The Athlon64 Radeon Xpress: ATi's Latest Stab as a Chipset Maker

Test And BIOS Details

The board's BIOS offered an extraordinary amount of settings. While having more influence on system parameters is certainly desirable, we don't expect so many BIOS options to be available in commercialized mobos.

The onboard graphics unit offers three different operation modes: Sideport (local frame buffer), UMA only and a combination of both. When selecting UMA, the maximum buffer size is 128 MB.

We had problems with Doom 3 when Sideport memory or Sideport+UMA was enabled and could not start the game. Lastly, we had to switch to UMA only in order to run some benchmarks.
