Following the denial of Soyo's takeover by PC Chips (which, in turn, is part of the Elitegroup - but was denied) the motherboard business continues to progress. The KT880 Dragon 2 is one of the newest products, and it operates on the basis of VIA's current dual channel DDR chipset. In addition, it supports AMD's Socket A up to Athlon XP 3200+. The new board is also interesting in combination with the new Sempron processors, which are essentially Athlon XP CPUs which have been renamed and whose performance ratings have been adjusted to value-segment benchmarks.
