AMD Cutting GPU Prices Again

The latest price adjustments will cause the HD 7750 to drop below $100, and the HD 7770 to $110. The competition of Nvidia's latest cards, AMD's HD 7850 and 7870, will decline to $200 and $240, respectively. On the higher end, expect the HD 7970 GHz Edition to retail for about $430 and the HD 7970 for $410. The HD 7950 Boost Edition should land at about $300, while the regular HD 7950 will hit $290. Of course, there will be variations depending on the manufacturer, but expect the price reductions to surface in the market next week.

While such price reductions are a normal part of the product life cycle, the close timing between this and the last reduction are somewhat unusual. This may be an indication that this is a preemptive move on AMD's side to keep an edge on price.

Makes building a computer for my friend much easier. the 7770 is an extremely solid solution for 110$ for entry/mid level purposes.

ATI, you just won another couple of sales. Every card in my house is nvidia, but, with the exception of my 3dvision rig, it doesnt make much sense not to buy ATI; they have price/performance, hands down.

Hoefully Afox will follow suit with their 7850 Single slot. $300 after shipping was just a bit much for my little mini ITX gaming system.

I kind of wonder what the profit margins are on GPUs. With all these aggressive price cuts I'd almost think they're selling these cards at a loss.

I plan to upgrade from my 570. Offerings from AMD become more and more reasonably priced, so I might do just that.

Now only if there can be this kind of competition with CPUs...

With rebate, expect the 7850 to go down to $160-ish. With the holiday sales just around the corner, wouldn't be surprised to see the 7850 go for $150.

Not complaining, but why are they doing this? AMD was already the better buy at nearly every price level.
